I just had sliders put in and a week later after it rained I had standing water in the sill. The installer came back and said he never saw anything like it. Of course the salesman was called and the pella rep who said it was "normal". Well if water standing in the sill that has to be soaked up with rags and the temperature turns to 30 and it freezes then " normal" means BAD windows! I am waiting on the rep to call me. I would have gone with a different manufacturer had I known they had this many issues. So much for energy efficient.

They were very professional and did not slack. They did a good job of cleanup but overlooked the weep holes and maybe should explain them to homeowners, and ensure the weep holes are open.
I believe the price was very high for the quality of the windows

You get what you pay for. The Anderson's we priced were much nicer and a better window all around, just did not fit our budget.

Clean up less than adequate AND damage done to my ceiling. Still waiting on the promised $250 for the damage. Over 6 weeks no responses.

1991 Family Room Addition...Pella Designer Series...casement & fixed windows...wood sill and wood sash bottom rail totally rotted out...wood components do not appear to have been treated for rot...defective design of sash glazing...as an Architect I thought Pella was a superior product which should last a life time...I was very wrong...I recently started to repair what appeared to be surface rot...what I discovered is an horrendous problem...I will be contacting the local Gunton/Pella architectural sales representative tomorrow morning...my 1927 home has wood double hung which are in great shape and I expect they will last at least another 88 years...

We replaced our front window and patio door with Pella products, they seemed to be OK. So, we decided to replace the rest of our windows with Pella. Shortly after the installation, we found our bedroom window to be defective, which caused water damage. The installation crew took out the window and tore up the wall and carpet to repair the damage. After a Winter here in MN I noticed a moldy discoloration in the corners or wood casement of the windows. We called our sales rep and he came out to take a look and did nothing about it, he blamed it on humidity. The windows all over the house continued to get worse, so we called again. Pella and the installation company came out again. They were debating whether it was a window or installation problem. Meanwhile, it has gotten cold again and I have frost all around my new windows! I don't see this happening with my friend's and family's windows! So frustrated! They are under warranty and nothing is being done!
The windows were roughly about $700 per window, not worth it!

I first met with them in June and was told that I could reuse my pre-existing screen door. In August, they came for their FIRST installation and told me that they could not reuse it so I needed to purchase one of THEIRS from Lowe's...and they needed to finish up some painting. They told me that they would call me. Three weeks later... THREE WEEKS.. I had to call them and they told me that I could only get them in to finish their work within the next 2 weeks. I called the company and asked what could be done with my bill because of the inconvenience of having this unfinished and sitting in the middle of my music studio. They said that they could lower my bill by $150. A week later, they were FINALLY able to come in and finish their work. This was now 4 weeks from the original installation date. I called to follow up on the $150 off because of my inconvenience and they are LYING and saying they 1) never said that I could reuse the pre-existing door 2) fixed the problem and nothing was wrong So, let me summarize... they lie to get the sale and then they perceive an installation of over a month "normal business practices". ****I do not wish the company to EVER contact me again****
The sales meeting was VERY pressuring. Get the doors from Lowe's and have Lowe's do the installation if you want to have the quality of Pella doors without the headache of dealing with nasty salespeople.

If you value time, money and quality, DO NOT use Pella!! I ordered 25 windows, and it took them several months to finish the job. It was one problem after another. We replaced a few windows the same size, and the trim/casing was different for each window. It looked terrible!! Of course we wanted a matching look, especially for windows right next to each other. They couldn't figure it out. It's wasted so much of my time and money!! I will never hire Pella again. If you use Pella you will be highly dissatisfied. Customer service is non-existent. They don't try to work with you, even with they're responsible for mistakes. They don't take responsibility for anything. Worst company ever!

Five years ago we did a major remodel to our home, which included high-end metal clad Pella windows. Recently, I discovered that the cladding of small window located in an upstairs toilet room was being pulled away from top rail because it was catching on the frame. The window had been open a total of 3 times since being installed for cleaning. I called Pella customer service, and was told that I would have to contact the dealer who I purchased the window from because each dealer was independently owned and operated. I did so, and he assured me that he was not an independent operator but worked for Pella. I outlined the problem and he had their service department contact me. A service representative came to the house and verified that indeed the top rail was catching on the frame and because the labor warranty of two years had expired, Pella would charge $150 per hour to repair the problem. I later learned that because it was an upstairs window, it would be a two-man job and therefore run me $300. per hour. My pointing out that it was a manufacturing defect appeared irrelevant. I understand since Pella was purchased by a large corporation the quality of the produce and service has deteriorated. I would recommend not purchasing the product.

I have Pella windows and had a very positive experience with the Pella Company. They stood by their 10 year warranty and corrected the probem. Thank you Pella.

We installed 49 Pella new windows in October 2009. Due to the Manufactured defects, Pella remanufactured the order and delivered the 2nd set in February 2010. Pella installed all the replacement order except for 21 windows, which are stacked in our garage. Pella does not provide any customer service. The windows leak and rot!

Reading through these posts, I'm sorry to say that I've experienced these same issues with my Pella Architect Series windows and doors (cladding problems, seal failure, rotting wood, spotted glass etc.). These were installed throughout my home in 1995. Pella denies responsibility for these issues. The wood behind the cladding, or seal covering, rotted. The rotted wood could not be detected until the cladding fell from the window base. It is obvious that the "seal" failed and water seeped under the cladding, rotting the wood behind. An official Pella installer commented "This product has failed and is a manufacturer's default." Pella has only offered a small reduction in the $1200 cost of replacement windows. Do not trust their guarantee.

Pella Solarium less than 18 years old totally rotted out. They say they don't make it anymore. So what can you do. They don't honor the warentee. Then the door panels fell off the oak door again they said they don't make them anymore again no honor of the warentee. So don't buy pella if you want any real warentee with the product or quality product.

I purchased Pella windows for my bedroom and a door unit for the front of my house. I have to say that after a couple of years I am extremely disatisfied with Pella products. All of the units are letting air flow through the windows so condensation is building up on them. The local Pella dealer insists it's my humidity in the house and tells me I should turn down my humidifier. Problem was, yup, there was no humidifier in the house at the time of my first and second calls. That and I could feel the air coming in. I purchased storm windows for the outside that has helped, but for the amount of money I paid this should be a non-issue. Sorry, Pella I have 12 other windows that need to be replaced and it will not be with your brand.

New home, all Pella windows, operating windows are all casement windows, clad in aluminum. Just past the 10 year mark, many of the windows have rotted out at the bottom of the moveable part.

I purchased wood designer windows for a house remodel. The widows seemed ok and a good value at about $180-$200 each average. I went with wood since I do not believe in vinyl as a long term solution or because of the toxic production issues. The windows have been trouble so far because of the aluminum glass spacers conduct too much cold into the edges and cause excessive condensation in our Seattle environment. I know this is a problem with many doors/windows, but I have 2 fiberglass door full lite doors that do not have any of these issues. It is the window design that makes them worse in this issue. The condensation then causes extreme mold/mildew problems on the sashes and I hope that they do not rot out before I can find a solution.

I purchased 2 Pella windows on one order. After installing I discovered a stress crack in one of the side frame members near the corner joint. I missed this when I unpacked the unit prior to installing. My second order of three windows arrived and after installing one I discovered the sliders would not close because the frame was made out of square. I allocated the proper clearence when I ordered them but I noticed it didn't quite fit the opening when I tried to install it. Upon investigation I discovered that the two sliders, one on each side wold no close squarely. There was caulking smeared on the center pane from the factory. Both of the screens had there mesh over stressed and was ripping. I still haven't resolved this issue with either Pella. (I'm waiting on them to send somebody) or Lowes where I purchased them. Lowes customer service at the store I bought them claimed that the warranty is void once the windows are installed. Having 2 defects out of 5 windows over 2 purchase orders is extremely poor workmanship in my opinion! Rusty in San Jose, Ca.

I had 19 windows and 1 Entry door replaced with Pella in 2002.The salesman was very understanding of my needs and his knowledge was second none. The Entry door keeps the wind and cold out. I also found the same for there windows. I preferred to go to my local Pella store then to the big box store.

I was excited when I learned the windows in my home are Pella. It is considered a quality product and who wouldn't want that in their home. However, after purchasing my home, I found several of the hardware to be in poor condition and some of the windows to also be in poor condition. When I called Pella, I was disappointed to learn that the warranty they provide doesn't apply to all their products and there are several limits. The hardware is supposed to have a lifetime warranty but according to the guy at the service center, that isn't true. Nothing has a lifetime warranty and the hardware has a 2 yr warranty. I plan to keep trying to reach someone at Pella and clear this up but the person I spoke to was a Pella approved supplier.

I hate to do this because the Pella Window plant is 10 miles from my home and they have experiences a number of layoffs recently. However, I must share how dissatisfied I am with their vinyl windows. I purchased sliding basement windows. They have two about 1" weep holes that allow cold air to stream through--so much so that the glass above the hole is covered with condensation. I had to cram towels in the tracks to prevent air flow into the house. When I called their corporate office, because their product service department could only provide me air permeable sticky-backed, cheap plastic flaps to tack on the outside of the window, they said the window was suppose to be designed like that and that the window meets their tested energy standard. If that is the case, I suggest that people look for other brands because the air flows through, which does not seem to be a very energy efficient design. Plus the cheap flaps were only made because people were complaining about bugs crawling though the holes-something to look forward to in spring.

I like the slider windows for ease in operation.
The Pella windows were comparable to other good quality windows
