Sunrise Windows

Hello, I was looking st Schuco windows, bu tthey were such a hard sell and the company who would install them is located 60 milses away. The company also has had almost 30 complaints with the BBB in the last threee years. I asked a representative about that and he said that was common for a company who did a lot of volume. They do a lot of other things other than windows. I just don't believe they should have that many complaints. Also, in their contract, it stated that if they caused any damage during installation, I would be responsible. That doesn't make any sense at all and they only offer a one year guarantee on their installation.

I like the look of the Sunset windows and the dealer here is a founding member of the BBB and has never had a complaint registered against them. They offer a 5 year warranty on labor and installation. I have talked to several people who have been very satisfied with their work. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on the windows. Can anyone offer me some more information on them. The windows have an excellent guarantee.

I do appreciate all the advice I've been given. Thank you so much. Nancy

I carry both the Schuco and the Sunrise, as well as many other brands. I personally do not like the Sunrise doublehung window, though the rest of the line is just fine. The windows are very attractive, but the design of the doublehung is flawed in my opinion. I've had many counterbalance and shoe problems with them, and I will not ever use them again because of my lack of confidence in them. I'm sure not everyone has had the flaws show up in their orders like I have, and I am also sure many dealers are thrilled with their success with them, so take that into account when considering my opinion.
I feel the casements, picture windows, and patio doors are very good, and are even available with blinds between the glass. I would recommend these windows in their line with no hesitation.
As far as the BBB complaints, I too would be hesitant to deal with a company with that many complaints. It's hard to tell why a company got the complaints, and maybe they were taken care of right away, but that still puts up a red flag. This company should make it their #1 priority to get these cases resolved, no matter the cost. In my company, I never let a situation get to that point, even though it is very difficult thing to do with some really unreasonable customers. Prompt customer service and real personal attention to a customers concerns are a necessity in this business. I do over 3 million a year and have never had a complaint, so you can see it IS possible even with high volume to keep your record clean if you address the issues promptly while they are happening.
Good luck with your search.

Thank you for your input. Exactly what is a counter balance problem and what are "shoes." I think I'm learning a new language and it is quite and education for me. I did stop by a couple of homes with the Sunrise windows by the company I would be using and both were very pleased. One of the homeowners said tht one of the windows wan't quite installed correctly and the dealer came over an personally took care of it. Do you think tht between the time you stopped using them and currently that the company could have made some design changes? Nancy

I have looked at a lot of windows, including the Sunrise, and have learned a lot on this site. After putting the two together, I think you can get a better quality window for a fair price than the Sunrise. Sunrise was one that I was not real impressed with in comparison with all the others. I suggest keep looking. That's my experience and opinion, hope it helps...Good Luck!
