Shocker is a gambling man! He's usually correct in his assumption that water won't get in there. On the other hand water only needs a pin hole to start it's damage. I've seen it a thousand times. Ounce it starts you'll never know until it's to late. If you live in a dry and warm climate you may be ok. If you live in a climate with snow and rain I'd strongly recommend taping off the windows. In most northern climates it's code to tape your windows. So check with your local building inspector before you roll the dice!!
