Schuco Question

Posted At: 2004-10-04 16:14:58

Why is it that one side (bottom of frame) of the Schuco's screens are wrapped around the outside of the frame edge where as the others are not. It is totally wrapped down and under the bottom frame (double hungs) where the rest of the sides the screen ends at the inside edge of the frame Appearance wise, this looks really bad. From the street it gives the appearance of a grey shady horizontal line that doesn't match the rest of the frame that appears white (like it should all the way around). It looks like there are 3 white sides of the frame and 1 grey side of the frame as you face it. Why don't they make the screen to fit the frame all the same??? For it supposedly being the "Great window", this part is awful. Also, has Schuco changed their locking system on the window recently?? Can anybody help answer here?? Thanks

Which Schuco window are you referring to. The 2000 or 4000. I carry the 4000 and we have never received a complaint about that. The window looks great installed. Better than most. They now have a optional locking system called PAL Locks, which are self locking locks. When you close the window down these locks automatically lock. They are very nice looking as well.

I have gone to 2 houses with double hungs (4000) and they both had this with the screen and very noticable to me. I know it sounds wierd, but take a look at one of your screens. Three sides of the screen have the screen going into the inner edge of the screen and the fourth slips down over the frame to the outter edge of it.
