MORE GLASS

We have beautiful views and want to minimize sash/frame sizes. I know there is an efficiency price for that but everything has tradeoffs. The Alside Excalibur has a sash/frame that is 2 1/2" per double hung side. Does Gorell or Schoco have anything with similar dimensions?

yes, Schuco has a slimline window which is the Schuco 2000 series. Gorell has the 5100 series.

Schuco slimline 2000 vs 4000 ?

Posted At: 2004-10-04 18:50:23

If you know, please, what is the difference between the 2000 and 4000 series (aside from the 2000 being a slimline and the 2000 only has double pane whereas the 4000 can have either double or triple pane)? If figure that there must be a disadvantage to the 2000 otherwise why would someone not want it compared to the 4000 which blocks more of the sunshine (because it is fatter). Are the NFRC ratings not as good, does it have a lesser warranty, is it more expensive, does it have an inferior design, is it more expensive to install, etc? Thank you.

The two are incomparible. The companies I consult will not even sell the 2000. Different aesthetic appearance. flat stops instead of contoured, no vent latches, double instead of triple pane, vinyl flap instead of steel lifts... the list goes on. The dealer cost difference is nominal as Schuco leads the performance market and wishes to continue doing so by selling the trip/kryp with TPS. The heavier frame is intentional by adding the detailed extrusions emulating the classic wood windows without the maintenance.
