Renewal by Anderson vs. Shucco double pane

Posted At: 2004-10-06 16:22:52

Hello,

I have posted several messages regarding the need for applied (external) grids in a replacement window. The need arose when I ordered custom double pane windows with external grids through a Shucco dealer (NE Sash) but they arrived with internal grids only to learn the external is not even offered.
I have since seen the internal contoured grids offered by Shucco. While they are FAR better than the cheap looking flat ones, they still don't acheive the look I really want (applied grids).
In the meantime, I met with a rep. for a Renewal by Anderson dealer. Renewal offers exactly what I am looking for in the grids. Obviously the price is different (but fairly comparable).
I know that comparing the two is apples and oranges. But, I wondered what the experts say: Shucco double pane w/ internal contoured grids vs. Renewal by Anderson double pane with external grids?

Thanks as always,
Michaelle

That's completely a personal preference.
If the grid appearance is your main issue that's important to you, and Renewal is the company that satisfies your estetic needs, then go with Renewal or someone with the grids you are looking for.
If energy efficiency and longevity are your main concerns, and you can live with the internal grids, then go with Schuco.
I'm a Schuco dealer and love the window, but I'm not about to recommend them for every situation. That's why there is more than one kind of window in the marketplace. It gives you choice.

I know the grids thing is a personal preference. But, w/ Renewal being fairly new, with both being double pane I wonder how they compare (aside from aesthetics)? Again, I realize it is apples and oranges (vinyl vs composite). Anyone?

Thanks again!
