REplacement Windows in Massachusetts

#1 Post by jtmce »

We are going to be replaicing 29 double hung windows on our circa 1910 home in a costal suburb north of Boston. After doing some research, I think I want wood-clad with vinyl exterior. I am looking for triple pane and am OK with clip-in mullions (sp?) Any particular brands I should look at or look to avoid? Also, what should I expect to pay /window? Am I shooting too high or too low if I budget 350/window?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

PS -- 350 is cost of window only, not to install too (n/t)

how much are you budgeting for install then? How much total is budgeted for each opening?

Budgeting approx 100/window for installation, making total budget/window 450. BUT -- I wouldn't mind getting a quality product for less :-)

OK -- how about Marvin Integrity

#5 Post by jtmce »

Alright -- I have continued some of my own research, and have begun to be attracted to Marvin Infinity windows (fiberglass). I have a total of 29 double windows --

5 == 33 1/2" x 53 1/2"
18 == 27 1/4" x 51 1/4"
6 oddball sizes, none larger than 18" x 36" (utility room, 1/2 bath, attic, etc).

Looking for Everwood interior and snap in grilles (6 over 6).

Am I still in the neighborhood of $350/opening and $100/opening for installation? Or have I totally busted the budget?

THanks in advance for any advice/help/tips/suggestions
