Glass temperature difference (outside vs. inside)

#1 Post by joejoe »

I just had Polaris Ultraweld doublehung windows (loe 2/argon) installed. So far I am not impressed with the SHGC performance. On a sunny day (70 degrees) I can feel the Sun's heat from across the room and the inside of the windows seem to be warmer than I thought they'd be. At this rate they'll be hot when the temp hits 90 degrees. I remember the Champion display with the heat lamps and was told this was a similar window. The U-factor is .35 and SHGC is .32. I wondering if my windows may not be loe 2 /argon. Or am I expecting too much ?

Has anyone experienced this ?

Thanks for your input.

u-factor of .35 is not great- in fact, the "average windows" done in the Boston market have a u factor of between .30-.33
