#1 Post by Windows on Washington »

I would like to see what the board/professionals think that the top 5, doesn't have to be in any particular order, are in each respective category.

I will throw out a couple in each that I think should be in consideration.

Vinyl

-Soft-Lite

Wood
-Loewen
-Marvin

Fiberglass/Composite
-Marvin

Aluminum
-?

Clad
-?

Storm Windows
-Mon Ray

etc

DNA (the old Dayton extrusion) has just started to market to Fabricators a new Vinyl window called Lexus. The Lexus platform improves upon the Soft-Lite Elements in many catagories, and it will be available to the public soon through several fabricators ,with more options than Soft-Lite is offering today.
DNA's marketing materials even claim a Patent on the type of sill that the Elements and Imperial LS are currently using, so stay tuned to that one. Could prove interesting.

Vinyl- Lexus and Great Lakes Uniframe.

Wood- Loewen, Weathershield and Marvin

Fiberglass/ Composite- Marvin

Aluminum- I would never recommend ,unless using for commercial curtain wall.

Clad- Weathershield (Crestline) makes a heavy vinyl exterior keyed into a solid heavy lumber interior of diiferent types of wood. Cherry, oak etc.

Storms- Would not recommmend use. Even poorly performing Vinyl replacement windows at Window World advertised prices will outperform and possibly be less cost than a storm window add on.
