WW (Alside Excalibur) compared to Generations (Simenton)?

#1 Post by stars1234 »

Hope someone is around for help.

I'm looking for 14 replacement windows for a brick veneer over cinder block built house, with plaster walls.

It looks like it's coming down to either the Window World 4000 (standard Alside Excalibur), from an established, local company, BBB member with no complaints; or the Generations Energy Wise (Simonton?), from a young, 50 mile away company, not BBB listed.

Cost: Window World $5,418
Generations $6,548
difference apprx: +$1,000 more for the Generations.

the Generations person never mentioned it is Generations "brand," He only talked about Simenton.

I am a bit upset that I couldn't find the window on the Simenton web site. It doesn't list it. I had a heck of a time finding it.

Is "Generations" a lower grade Simenton? Is it equivalent to or better than the Alside Excalibur?

Perhaps it was an oversite on his part to not tell me? Perhaps it doesn't matter?

However, the WW person said upfront, their series 4000 is the Alside Excalibur.

What are your opinions as to Value to Price?

I have other questions which I'll post in different threads. Hope you can help with those too.
