Hi,
New to the forum and my question is- we replaced all our old double hung with Gorell 5300 windows. Good window but I cannot put the inside window shades back in some cases. The new window does not leave enough room for putting the window shade back, mounted as it was before, inside top of window stop. Any suggestions on how to remount? Thanks, Edwina

Re: window shades
Edwina,
did you have wood windows replaced, or aluminum?
On aluminum windows (replaced), you lose interior depth, but the width should be the same. To mount, we would typically mount to the side and top of the inside opening.
If they replaced wood windows, then depth is ususally the same, but if they put new trim in widths can change and there may be nothing you can do.

Re: window shades
You may have to buy & install new L-shaped brackets to get the shades to work. These brackets will hold the shade out further.
Re: window shades
The original windows were wood. Replacement are the Gorell 5300. Frame must be thicker. I saw the L-Bracket you suggested and will have to mount one and see how it looks. Thanks for the reply. Ed
