Soft-Lite Elements Triple Pane vs Pella 250 Series

#1 Post by Siacovel »

We are replacing all builder installed windows with new ones. We have narrowed our search to Soft-Lite Elements and Pella 250 Series. Energy ratings for both are comparable. Pella 250 Series is brand new and we are uncertain about it. We haven't found many 250 Series reviews.

Also, we are torn about triple pane. Would we really lose much light if we go with triple pane? We like a lot of natural sunlight.

Thank you.

Do you mean Pella 350?

Either way, there is no comparison. The Elements is the superior window.

The Pella does NOT even come close to the Soft Lite in terms of quality and energy efficiency. The Elements is a much better window.

I agree with the above comments... and to elaborate, the energy ratings are NOT comparable. The u-factor of comparable glass package will be a few ticks better for the Softlite, as will the DP, and the air infiltration. In addition, the Pella has a pocket capture sill which is an outdated design imo. Cheaper to produce, but comes with a lot of baggage. Comparable products to the Softlite would be Okna, Quantum 2, Energy Wall by Polaris, Restorations by Sunrise, etc.

Don't worry about the light. They don't tint the windows dark like older generation triple panes did. Many people can't tell it's even triple without looking at the spacer around the edge.
