Alside vs Soft-Lite windows

#1 Post by Shopper5 »

I have a quote from Zen Windows for the Nirvana double pane window just north of $27k, and one from Apex Energy Solutions for the Insignia triple pane window just north of $29k. Both companies have an A+ rating on BBB. I live in Denver, CO. I would love to hear opinions on which is the best window/offer. Thanks!

I prefer, as a brand, the Soft-Lite line up.

I can't recall what model the actual Apex product is but there is a poster on here by the name of HomeSealed that knows the background on that window very well.

I will wait for him to way in.

I too prefer the Soft-lite over Alside. Not crazy about the company you’d be getting them from however.

I would go with SL. Minimum would be the Imperial LS.

Thank you for your opinions! If I were to upgrade the Nirvana (classic) what upgrade would give me the most bang for the buck, super spacer or Triple glaze glass?

Are these double hungs or casements?

Some will be double hung and some sliders and picture windows.

Best bang for the buck would depend on what they are charging for each, More than likely Superspacer would be best bang for buck , I would not typically call triple pane bang for buck due to upfront cost and payback period. Going up to the Pro series might be a good bang for buck since it would be cheaper than upgrading the Classic to the Standard features on the Pro which is mostly the same window. The Pro would give you Superspacer, reinforced sash and double strength glass. It all really depends on they price everything.

Hopefully my last question on Alside/Apex vs Soft-lite/Nirvana
The NFRC lable on the Alside Model 8001 ($763.00 less than the Lotus) Double Hung shows U-Factor .22, SHGC .21, Air Leakage .3
The Brochure for Zen puts the Nirvana U-Factor at .29, SHGC .28, Air Leakage is .07
The Brochure for Zen puts Lotus ($2500.00 more than the Nirvana)U-Factor at .21, SHGC .26, Air Leakage .06
Are the differences in these ratings significant?

Between the two Zen offerings, a decent bit.

We are seeing a bunch more triple pane in the market and for a reasonable premium, it is worth the investment.
