Poly insulator kits over double pane windows=popped seals?
Poly insulator kits over double pane windows=popped seals?
I was thinking about installing Plastic sheet insulator kits over my double pane windows to reduce infiltration this winter. But Iv read It creates too much heat between the double pane windows and could make the seals pop. Is this true?

In general I doubt it. Especially if the windows are so drafty to cause you to think of doing this.

Thanks Anthony.. Not really drafty.anthony wrote:In general I doubt it. Especially if the windows are so drafty to cause you to think of doing this.
I stopped heating with wood this season because of lower back issues and figured the poly would be easy and save me some money.. Or easier than hauling 300 lb oak slabs around. Some windows never get opened and the poly would probably remain there for who knows how long. But not if I risk damaging the seals..

There is probably a 0% chance to trapped heat with the plastic option.
