Simonton 6500

#1 Post by Jen1949 »

I cannot find the product tax credit information on the Simonton 6500 which is sold through Home Depot. I need the U Value and SHGC values.

Also are these the same windows that are sold through distributors?

If the 6500 windows are the same as 5500 reflections, then am I correct to assume that the performance data is the same as the 5500 series? Are the 6500 in HD or are they special order? Do they install or can I get my installer? Thanks for your advice.

The performance numbers are all the same. All of them must be special ordered. HD installs the 6500 as it is their "private label". You will likely get a better price and install from a local contractor on the Reflections and Prism lines. The Prism Platinum comes with Super Spacer, double strength glass and 25 year glass breakage all standard. The Reflections 5500 must be upgraded to double strength and Super Spacer and if upgraded comes with a 3 year glass breakage warranty.

Make sure you order the correct glass for your geographic area. If you decide to go with HD, don't rely on their employees to know the best options as they are not very well trained.

So can I use my installer if I order these windows through HD? Are they less than purchasing the 5500 series Simonton windows? Last do I just call a local store to get quotes on 6500 windows?

HD only sells the 6500 on an installed basis by them (subcontractor). If you want the Prism Platinum or the Reflections 5500, you would be better to find a local company to purchase them through on an installed basis.
