The "10 year warranty is calculated by the stamp date on the window not the new/original owner occupancy date. Windows built in 2005/2006 of very poor seal quality. Wording on warranty is highly misleading. They are cheating homeowner by making them believe the warranty is for 10 years from the date of purchasing their home. Sometimes they cover this and other times they stonewall the original owner. Additionally who would ever believe that they were selling a product that was going to last just to the warranty period. Is anyone buying cars thinking they will pay an additional 50% of value right after the warranty runs out? This company appears to be supporting it's distributors at the expense of the consumer!

General Aluminum 1900 Series windows. Home built in 2005. 1st failure within 1 year, manufacture wouldn't cover due to Hurricanne Katrina. Paid for replacement window, labor and materials and that window failed 1 year later. Labor and materials covered for 2nd replacement. 2 additional windows on lower level of house failed, materials covered but not labor. Now 2 windows on upper level of house have failed as well as 2 bedroom windows. From 2005 to 2011 8 out 26 windows have failed.
Cost approximatley 100 to replace each window.

I have a ten year old house in North Texas with GA 1900 series aluminum frame windows installed by the builder and at least 50% have broken their seals. When the outside temperature was 10 F this past winter, we hung a blanket over the window and the room temperature went up 10 F in 20 minutes. The warranty is only transferable to the first buyer.

Don't pay for the service fee for warranty work. Windows are ten years old and have been changed out at least once, if not twice. You will continue to pay for these windows by way of the service fee. You might want to find windows that will last longer than 10 years.
