I am having a 20' x 12', 4 season sunroom addition put on my home in NW suburban Chicago. Room will be on the north side of house, subject to significant northerly winter winds. Windows on 2 sides (north 20'W x 60"H and east 12'W x 60"H = lots of glass). I'm very concerned about air infiltration and energy efficiency in the winter...quality is a must.
I am looking for recommendations on all-vinyl casement (or slider) windows. I'm confused about which window manufacturer / model I should consider.
Advice / recommendations will be appreciated!!

Jeff -
I live in a far SW Chicago suburb (out in the middle of farm country) and on top of a hill. I too experience the benefit(?) of north and northwesterly winds that can be quite severe. I've done exhaustive research and settled upon the Schuco brand for a number of qualitative reasons. If I may be so bold as to suggest a course of action, I'd contact Dave at ProMax Construction (217-424-8900) and see if he can help.
I'm not sure just how far north his territory extends but if you fall within it I can assure you that you won't go wrong in listening to him. He is in an enviable position since he handles most (if not all) of the major brand names and, with his decades of experience, is almost uniquely suited to being able to recommend, supply and install the best for your specific situation.
Just in case you're wondering, no, I don't work for him - lol. However, I have been very impressed with his laid-back, no pressure style, the depth of his knowledge and expertise and the relative high-value (best bang for the buck) quote he geve me.
Good luck :)
Good luck :)
