REPUBLIC WINDOWS

We are thinking of using Republic replacement windows. Has anybody had any experience using them? We live in the mid-east region. Thanks ahead of time for your responses and help.

I am a little biased in my opinion of Republic since they tried to take my prospective commercial client from me. I WENT TO THEM to price three large apartment complexes for one of the biggest apartment ownership companies in America and I then set up a 3 way meeting with my prospective client, myself, and a Republic rep. During the meeting, the rep tried to steal the installation away from me by insinuating that I wasn't as qualified as their"installation division", and they could do it for less money. The part I couldn't believe, was that they tried to do it right in front of me. Pretty slimey and greedy. I would recommend any that any contractor thinking of using them watch their back very closely.
Unfortunatley, they got a large window order and neither of us ended up with the installation.
So as you can imagine, my opinion of them probably wouldn't reassure you much on your purchase.

Mid-range at best. They have a large commercial business in the midwest because they are cheap. If you are considering installing them in summer home, back porch or rental property, it could be a good investment if you plan to sell within a few years.

Hold on there.........In 1999 they won the prestigious Crystal Achievement Award for the most inovative manufacturing plant just like Schuco did in 2000. They have 750 employees and a 375,000 square foot plant and nearly 100 million in sales .

You can learn a lot about a company by studying thier web site. http://www.republicwindows.com

Be careful of trusting salespeople who bad mouth other companies. A good salesperson has learned to ignore not knock his competition. Good luck with your project.

Good post anon. This guy deserves facts to help with his decision. I have made it a rule never to buy form a salesperson that craps on his competition.

Wait a minute here anon and sales rep.

I didn't see any negative talk about Republics' window quality - just about their (or at least a factory reps) business practices. Being in sales myself for a good many years I can sure appreciate what Window4U said. Put yourselves in that same position - you're bidding on a large order; you've arranged for a factory rep to meet with you and the potential customer and the factory rep impugns your ability and tries to take the sale from you? Do you really believe that the comments from Window4U aren't warranted in such an event? You'd be willing to lay down and take that? Come on now.........

Personally, since the rep is the 'face' of the company, if that happened to me I'd never sell the product again no matter how good it might be - unless the factory made amends. And if I were the customer I'd probably never buy the product since I couldn't condone such untoward practices.

My remarks were directed toward the reply by FenEx. If you consider his reply helpful then I guess we sell our products to homeowners from different perspectives. Customers do not accept the salesperson as an unbiased source of information. I prefer to concentrate the customers attention on my product and why I believe it is their best choice. Reread FenEx reply and tell me if you honestly believe this was a true assessment of Republic by using facts and not snide remarks designed to prejudice the customer. Why not give the customer useful information and let him form his own opinions. Most homeowners I have delt with are very perceptive toward biased sales techniques like this.

My comment was in reference to W4U's post and the use of Republic's Builders Series. They are the bulk of Republic's business and... they are cheap (inexpensive), that's why they are used by so many builders. It is not a product that I would recommend for use in a nice home that deserves a longer lasting , better quality product. The post was not intended to slam Republic. Their Allure and Premier lines for instance are better products (in my opinion) but I would still consider them in the Mid-Range of available products.

Sales Dude! You state that the customer is after "Opinions". I feel FenX is giving his honest opinion. If he feels it's middle of the line as I do. It's our opinion. I install Republic windows ounce or twice a month. I feel they are nothing special. Instead of attacking FenX and going after him, Why don't you just disagree with him in respect to Republics product. Tell the customer what you fell is great about it. Remember we are all giving opinions. Also keep in mind that FenX tests all your products to see how energy efficient they are in homes. So his remarks have a substantial reason behind them. We all need to respect each others opinion and let the customer pick for themselves. My only request is don't use Home Depot (Just Kidding, it's a dig to fire up Grasshopper)

Therin lies the difference between you and I perhaps. I am not a salesperson, I am a consultant and so are those that I work with. A salesperson is typically looking to sell his/her products by any means necessary. A consultant educates and shares well founded information allowing the customer to choose their own direction. If a consultant is payed on commission, you can bet your bottom dollar that he/she will be doing alot more research and making darn sure they are backing the best currently available products to end up on the receiving end of the purchase. As for learning alot about a company by their website, you will only learn what they want you to see... it's their site. I prefer to utilize shared knowledge by industry professionals and homeowners. The best representation of any product is the product itself as proven over time to those that own it and work with it. The original post asked for an opinion... I voiced mine with nothing to lose or gain either way... but it was given in good conscience.
Anon, you seem to enjoy digging at each and every post I present... perhaps it might be best if you took your own advice and just ignored them.

Thanks for all that responded to my request of information concerning Republic Windows - Premier series.
Why do I still get the impression that window sales correspond with car sales?
