Hi everyone,
I've been reading info off this site for a while now and need some advice on my replacement window qoutes. I've had many but have narrowed it down to these three companies. Schuco 4000 series $8963, Gorell 5300 series(from Jack's Wholesale) $6500, and Champion windows $5353. The windows are (2) 73x53 2-lite sliders, (2) 85x36 3-lite sliders, (1) 40x53 DH, (1) 24x35 DH, (1) 28x35 DH, and (1) 36x35 DH. Schuco is triple pane low E krypton, both Gorell and Champion are double pane low E argon. Also had prices quoted for (4) 42x66 picture windows for the living room. Schuco 4000 series is $3969 and Champion is $2280 for these 4 picture windows (safety glass). I know these windows are not all the same quality, but would really appreciate some imput on which windows are the best bang for the buck and also if this pricing is fair.
Thank you!

Brian if you lived here in MN I would have charged you around $7000 for the whole bunch. All twelve windows installed and wrapped. I can't compare myself to where you live but I know we are usually higher than the rest of the Nation. Hope this helps.

I qualify most of my opinions around here first by saying I'm not one of the experts........
Obviously, Schuco is the best window in this comparison, and is priced accordingly. I personally don't know a lot about Gorell, but they seem to be pretty-well respected by most in the know. I've always felt that Champion is a pretty safe choice if you didn't need state-of-art.....and IF you could manage their often wacky direct Sales efforts. Unfortunately, that's usually not easy with their "you need to buy today" approach.
My own opinion: unless you have a compelling reason to have the best.....and there clearly are MANY reasons for doing so.....I'd personally recommend you go with Champion in this case.

Out of curiousity, the 7K would have included what brand of window?

Jake I use a couple different kinds. My favorite happens to be made here in MN. It's a good middle of the road window. The company's name is Thermo-Tech. My advantage is having them here locally. Any issues are dealt with promptly. If I need glass, screens or any parts I can drive to get them. I get windows in about a week and have fair turn around. They are small and only have been around for fifteen years. I have some problems here and there but generally I like them. All they're glass is double strength with warm edge super spacer breaks. They use stainless steel constant force balances. The slider units run on brass wheels instead of vinyl or plastic wheels. They come with heavy duty screens and small foot bolt on each slider. You can open the window three inches and lock it in place. Kind of a cool idea. My elderly customers love this idea. All in all it works well for me. You can visit their site at the below link.

Thanks for the info Guy. I have only just begun to check into replacing my windows and this web site, and you guys, are a great resource.
I have found, so far at least, that it's really hard to get what I think is straigh answers to what I believe are reasonable questions from the local sales people and their installers.
For example, I have quotes between 320 and 1200 per window and everyone claims theirs are as good or better than the others.

Jake your in the same boat as all the others here. The one guy awhile back nailed it on the head. It's like a used car scam. That has a lot to do with why I'm here. I hate those blood suckers out there!! What part of the nation are you in? I might have a good recommendation on installers and product for you.
