I have vinyl shutters screwed into my wood frames around the windows.
I would like to keep these shutters as my home is a colonial & I like the look. How do window installers handle capping when shutters are present? Do the shutters need to be removed or can they cap under them somehow?
Thanks.

We remove them and install the wrap. Then we re-hang them so they don't screw back into the brickmold. Piece of cake. Hope this helped!!!

Thanks Guy, that helps, but are you saying they should NOT screw the shutters into the capping? If so, should the shutters should be screwed into the house (stucco) on each side of the capping?
Thanks again.

Yes they should be screwed into the Stucco. Never penetrate the area that is suppose to keep moisture out. Any little pin hole can start an epic landslide of issues. This is your front line of defense from the elements. A screw in each corner will be fine. Most new shutters come with holes in the face already. I mark and drill the hole. I then fill the stucco holes with silicone and install the screws. This also prevents water leakage behind your stucco. Hope this helps!
