Does anyone know anything about American Jewel Windows? Since I can't seem to find anyone who wants to install new construction windows (Andersens) unless you have six figures to spend on an add-a-level or gut-and-rebuild, I'm reluctantly looking at vinyl replacement windows. My local Ace Hardware sells and installs these.
What brands/lines ARE comparable to new construction windows? I'm not completely averse to vinyl replacements, but from what I've seen, the fittings (locks, latches) are cheap and wear out quickly. I don't want to have to do this every five years. So what are some good vinyl replacements that might last 20 years?

Check out Galaxy Windows. They are VERY well made vinyl windows that will last for 20 years or more.
