The Cost of Wrapping/Capping

How much should one expect wrapping/capping to add to the cost of replacement windows. I have quotes which differ substantially, and it's hard to compare apples-to-apples being so ignorant.

You should be around $!00 per standard window. 36x54 being the largest for normal. Anything bigger or multiple units will be higher. Thats based off MN prices.

Thanks again Guy. I have a quote for 320 per window, installed and wrapped. I don't see how anyone can do that. I also have a quote for over 1100, installed and wrapped. The 320 per window guy claims his windows are a good, "middle-of-the-road" window. Do you think that's possible? The 320 guy used to work for window world and is now out on his own.

Yes, that price is very common for many windows. I have decent mid-range windows in that range available, as well as the ultra-premium windows like Schuco that I prefer and suggest to my customers.
Just realize that there is a reason that low-mid range windows are less money than premium windows.
And by the way, not all expensive windows are premium windows.

Like the quote goes, "With a higher priced window, you MAY get what you pay for, but with a cheaply priced window you ALWAYS get what you pay for"

By the way, I forgot to say the $1100 dollar price for a doublehung window is totally ridiculous.
By advocating a premium window, I was not suggesting you buy from someone like this. You can get premium windows starting at $400-$500 and going up a couple hundred more depending on options and brand.

I don't have the quotes in front of me but if I remember correctly, the 320 quote was for something like, centipeed?

I remember now, the 320 window was Certaintee... I'm pretty sure. Are these any good... I assume they are only as good as it gets for $320, installed and wrapped/capped.

Certainteed is a good solid brand, though there are issues like the easily bowed roll formed screens I don't care for. If you are getting the Bryn Mahr II for that $, you're stealing them, as they are better than mid-range. But my guess is that you are getting the Somerton. Either way, they are a big company that will be around for a long time and quite frankly, you could do much worse.

Thanks. I'm not sure which model, but I doubt I'm "stealing them," so it's likely not the high-end of the line.
