Kat,

Are you in a restoration area?
Are there many houses that need to be repaired or restored?
If so, what are your neighbors doing?

I would recommend that before you start that you either go to the library or to a local bookstore and check out books on Craftsman style houses.
Personally, I am very fond of the Craftsman style and I would choose restoration materials that most closely resembled the orginal materials.

We have all seen examples of Victorian (for example) style houses with the porches enclosed and metal or vinyl siding that completely destroys the character of the original house...if your primary concern is value, then certainly you would want to stick closely to the original building materials.

It is odd that you care what things look like, considering your typing and spelling.

I visit this website quite frequently, and must say that although I do look forward to the valuable product quality feedback that is available, I am astounded by the amount of useless bullshit, back and forth bashing that goes on. This website has sunken to the depths of nothing short of a boring soap opera. It seems more than ever that it is a place for the ego-centric window \\\"know it alls\\\" to come and stroke themselves, visit with their cronies, and pass judgement on those innocent people looking for direction in the convoluted world of window shopping. Stop judging people on their window intelligence and English skills, and give forward some valid information. If you have nothing valuable to say, then don\\\'t say it. Thanks to the one response to this consumer who looked passed the spelling and dug into the meat of the matter. You have integrity and respect.

Thank you Kat

There are neighborhoods in virtually every city in the country where there exist old houses that need to be brought back to their original beauty.
Good luck to you, and I would enjoy an occasional update as you continue with your restoral.

You are very correct! I agree with your post on passing judgement upon others. I try hard to keep myself as open to peoples posts as much as possible. I am bias in some areas. Which I'm sure you may be in your trade.I admit that. I'm only human as others are here. This is only from dealing with certain things constantly or having trouble with something. I do think most the time people get their question answered. Sometimes I feel we may not answer it in the terms they understand. I think because we have some fun and rib each other a bit is good. Laugh a little, it makes your life better! Why have a site be boring with no laughs. Being a stuffed shirt, which I feel you want us to be. Makes it way more boring than I could ever imagine. The above post picking on spelling and grammar is sad. I couldn't believe anyone would do that. But then I forgot people have no honor or respect for anybody today.

But now this post will stir the opera you so much hate. We all defend in what we believe. It's called an opinion. That's why they come here. It's up to the customer to go the route they feel works best for them. We are only giving people our opinion on what we work with all day long. It's like being a Republican or a Democrat. Instead of choosing a side. Lets just pick the one that's the best. It's up to you to figure out what's best! By asking questions about things you don't know!!!!!!

I agree! Watching an old neighborhood grow back into the Architechtural dream it was is great. Kat your on the right road to success. When one steps forward others follow. I know nothing about Craftsman styled homes. So I can offer no help. I do wish you well in your journey!! Have Patience!! This you will need.
