Hi, we had a salesman last night who went from 9800. for 11 windows -- 1002 united inches to 5700 for 932 united inches after we said no to the first price. We have 2 more business days to back out if we wish. Has anyone had these replacement windows and how good are they. Is this price in the ballpark. Thanks!!!!!

Why did he drop $4000 off the bid for 1 or two less windows? I would get out of the contract fast and get better educated.

He originally had 2 windows in that we did not intend to replace as they face a closed front porch. We then added 2 smaller windows and the total no, of windows was 11. His original quote was 9800. They then showed us an "econoline" window which we said no to, Then the boss dropped it to 5900 after which reviewing the window sheet we realized he had those 2 in. They dropped it 200. for the size difference. Have you heard of the windows? They actually looked good. I figured it was like the kirby vaccuum sale- when they also drop it way down compared to there first offer. They are called the Alaskan 2000. They have the low e glass with argon filled 7/8 inch space with the rubber between the seals so it is to protect the seal vs metal. lifetime warranty. plus the installation included new wood around windows that the wood was getting bad on.(which in a 90yr old house will be needed) . We had 2 windows replaced by a different company last year and they did not do that or even recommend it- which in hindsight we wish we had done.

A search of this board with "alaskan" turned up only 4 responses. Windows USA was a term in some of them and this on google search turned up Farley Windows and a canadian address. I am hoping someone on this board can help this lady before it is too late.

You would think that any window being sold for $890 a piece would come up with at least one result on a google search.

You really need to bring this to a screeching halt and do some research.
If they really are nice guys, they will understand your need to make sure you are making an educated decision.

For example,do you know the answer to any of these questions?
what is the real name of this window??
What are the windows DP and U-value ratings?
What type of glass spacer does the window have?
Who makes the glass and what type of Low-E are you getting?
Do they edge delete the glass?
What are the air infiltration rates?
What and how long is the factory warranty and what exclusions does it have?
What and how long is the labor warranty?
What other models does the factory make, and which window are you getting? Good, Better, Best?
How long has the factory been in business and who are they affiliated with? If the factory goes bust, so does your warranty and parts availability.

There are not many windows on the market worth this kind of money. Please do yourself a favor and do not get taken. Many home Improvement companies get ridiculously high prices for cheap windows. It's all a sales game with high commissions being the goal.
Get more info about this window and post it here. We will be happy to give you some real good advice based on fact.

As far as the windows name,..... having spent time in Alaska putting windows and siding on Aleut and Eskimo housing, I can assure you there is only one window made there, and it's called Northerm. Any other windows with the alaskan name are just using the name.
(And no, we didn't put windows in Igloos)
