Update from the confused Marie.
We live in St. Lucie County (Fort Pierce) on the Vero Beach line on the east coast of Florida. According to the four window contractors we have met with we are in the Category 4 Hurricane Region. So far the estimates are as follows.
Gorell Series 5300 $15,800 for vinyl double hung, includes 2 Bay Windows. Arrived with samples. Estimate on back of business card - Price only no details.
Simitron vinyl single hung (do not know which Simitron) for $8,875 with $945 if upgraded to double hung. No samples. Estimate on letterhead paper - Price only no details.
Sears told us cannot use Simitron as they do not meet code. And cannot use vinyl clad or do the Bay windows. $14,795 but if we decided in 48 hrs. $12,200 and if we signed then and there $10,980. Had no samples or info on the windows. Said they were PGT Winguard. Estimate on Sears Fair Pricing Sheet for the 3 prices only - no details.
Met with the WinGuard sales rep. yesterday. He also arrived with no samples. He was 2 hrs late due to an accident and was very nice but also said he was the manager not the sales rep. He asked if he could reschedule for this afternoon and he will bring a sample window and also find out if they can do the Bay Windows. We do know that the windows will be sliders not single or double hung and aluminum not vinyl.
Also in my last post I said that the windows the builder was using in the new homes were Simitron, they are WinGuard.
By the way Tim, I did use your site for for a free replacement quote which resulted in my appt. with the Gorell rep on Aug 12. Where the HE(double hockey sticks) is my Guide to Replacement Windows, it might come in handy.

Marie, I see the pricing but I'm bigtime confused. I've never seen this before. Sears telling a customer that the SIMONTON window is not code. My jaw is still on the floor.
My dearest Marie and everyone else out there. This is a perfect example of high stress sales. Simonton makes Sears window!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I was a Simonton rep I would track someone down and Bitch Slap them from here to the Moon. (I miss Jackie Gleason) Anyway thats down and out a low ball move. Goes in my book!!
Marie if some one says they're the "Manager". Wouldn't you think they would be better prepared than any sales man. You would think he would have all the answers. Ask for another sales person. Have you found anyone from Schuco yet? Keep searching!!
This whole thing makes me ill. No wonder your so confused. I really honedtly feel sorry for you!! If anyone from my sales staff did this I would send them down the road so fast they'd have road rash! Have patience!!
