Colonial Grids

Is there any preference to which looks better: Contoured or flat colonial grids, upper dh only. Was leaning toward the contoured because it has the shape of traditional wood windows, but saw the flat colonial at a friend's house today and thought it looked nice.

Do they both look the same from the street?

If you had wood windows to begin with i think sculptured grids look better. If you have horizontal sliders i think flat grids are better. In the end you are living wit them i just think sculptured goes best with traditional houses and flat grids go better with more contemporary ones.

Thanks E-Z...that's what I was thinking....I was attracted to the contoured grids probably because of the old wood grids I have now. The salesman told me most customers go for the flat & that got me thinking maybe I was making a mistake, and then I saw the flat at a friend's house & liked them too.....I do have an old, traditional house & like the contours of the original wood grids, so the contours is probably the best choice.

Thanks again.

A matter of personal pref.
Also some manufactures have a narrower (5/8)
and a thicker (1") type in both contoured
and flat. Also pay attention how the grids
meet. Some use a plastic connector and some are "mitered"
Personally I think the 1" contoured grid with "mitered"
meeting points look the most "authentic". (especially in
lagrer windows)
Actually I guess SDL is the most authentic....
I could go on and on about grids....
