Is DuraSeal the same as the infamous swiggle that I gather from reading posts here is not in favor with those in the know?

DuraSeal is made by TruSeal, which is the same company that makes Swiggle. It is an upgraded product, that I have heard has very nuce performance values, but a product that I have never had the opportunity to personally evaluate.
Swiggle is not that bad. I know we have "bombed" it a few times here, but for what it is it performs decently and it is a good product for "mom and pop" glass shops to use. And there are some very large window makers who are quite happy with Swiggle.
We really tend to go way overboard here when comparing spacers and spacer performance. No one is really fond of the aluminum spacer, for example, yet in the "correct" sash and in the "correct" environment the much-chastised aluminum spacer will perform adequately. Do I recommend an aluminum spacer? Nope, but I am saying to anyone who might have one that your windows are not going to fall out or attack you during the night just because you have an aluminum spacer.
I am wondering about starting "spacer-wars" all over again if I continue? ;-)

Good balanced response as usual. I just wish everyone that was ever concerned about spacers could read it. Keep posting.

our manufacturer just changed from swiggle to a new style of edgetech with dead air spaces in the spacer itself to supposedly improve u-factor performance. we were caught off guard a little since this particular mfr has used swiggle for nearly 4 years with no problems. their reasoning for the change is to streamline ig production and not because of failures with swiggle.

There are a few minor differences but it is essentially the same animal and will have the same drawbacks.
