Would the use of this sealant on my reflection 5500 Simonton 1 superspacer replacement windows be a good choice?

It is the caulking Marvin recommends and uses and is color coded to their windows. Hope this helps.

Most installers have their favorite when it comes to caulking. Some love OSI Quad, some like 100% silicone, and people such as myself prefer Novaflex, which is what vinyl window factories use to seal bays, bows, garden windows, etc. in the manufacturing process. It is made especially to adhere to vinyl windows and is the best window caulk, in MY opinion. It is made in pretty much every color of every vinyl window made.
The solarseal product is one I find very messy, and non-toolable if you screw up. I prefer not to use it. It only has a 20 year life expectancy too. But as I said, I'm sure some installers love it and would swear by it.

Just curious, why would you want to paint it if it's the exact same color as your new vinyl windows? (Simonton uses it on their windows too, by the way.)

A quick Google search indicates that it is carried by a place called DIY Windows & Doors in Granada Hills, Ca - Tel # (818) 360-4113.

Be careful with this caulk if you are not excellent with the caulking gun Barbara. I'm serious!!! This is not homeowner friendly caulking. You can not tool it when you mess up and cleanup takes the use of mineral spirits and/or scraping. It's a horrible mess waiting to happen if you are not real good with that gun. In the right hands, a decent product though.

O.K....Well, I guess you could caulk the white window white, and paint right to the edge of the caulk where it meets the wood, or you could caulk with paintable caulk and then paint over the caulk right up to where the caulk meets the window. It's only a quarter inch difference, and ends up with virtually identical finished looks. Either way, I guess. I would just hate to have to paint over the caulking that close to the vinyl. I'd rather have the better caulk I didn't have to ever paint. Each to their own though. Thanks for the explanation, and good luck on your project.

Yeah, that one was a little bit of a mind twister to read. LOL!
What I mean is that if you are going to have wood outside for your exterior casings in a different color than your white window, it does not matter what color the caulk is where the window meets the different colored wood. Either you paint the caulk the color of the trim, or you caulk the same color as the window, and paint up to it. The white caulk will visually blend into the white window, and never need to be painted.
No big deal on this, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH WAY YOU DO IT...definitly not enough to make a bunch of posts out of it! :-)
