Advise on Window Manufacturers

Posted At: 2004-09-12 00:36:08

Hi- I am just had two quotes done on my home, built in 1978 with single-pane aluminum frame windows. I have two shiders, and 11 windows to replace. My first quote was from Renewal by Anderson. $23,000, 20 year transferable warranty parts and labor. The windows are fibrex. Second quote was $9,600 from a window manufacturer in California, called Anlin. (I live in the bay area-temperatures up to 105 in summer, 60's winter-lots of rain). Their product is all virgin-vinyl. Also, lifetime quarantee on parts and labor.

Has anyone heard of, or used Anlin? Alos looked into Milgard-but they do not seem to have as good a warranty. Any commentary helpful! Thanks!

Chris -

From what I've seen over the past few months, a number of homeowners and installers give Anlin a thumbs-up. Polybau out there on the left coast gets even higher raves on average. Andersen (RBA) is pretty much generally considered to be very high-priced and lower quality.

One thing that could help you would be the Search function on this forum (upper right corner of this page). Use it to check out Anlin or Polybau or others - it'll give you a shortcut to a LOT of info.

Best of luck.
