Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with Champion windows? Quality and/or price?

Good in some regards, not so good in others

1) Not the most up-to-date feature set (no triple glazing or krypton fill available)

2) Otherwise, good build quality and excellent warranty

3) Often difficult-to-deal-with Sales process.

If you don't want/need premium features.....and can successfully navigate their "buy today" Sales process.....I think Champion is just fine. I have a Champion patio door, and personally think it's as good as ANYTHING on the market with similar features.

IMHO, the same thing could reasonably be said about their windows. But, I didn't choose Champion for my recent replacement project because I definitely WANTED triple glazing and krypton. Of course, these features may be unnecessary (or an overdesign) for you in your geographic location.

If you're interested in Champion, my recommendation would be to gather a few other estimates IN ADVANCE of getting their number. That would put you in a position to make THE most informed (from a cost and feature standpoint) decision possible. Whatever you do, DON'T knuckle-under to their traditional Sales tactics.....you're spending WAY too much money to feel pressured.

But, on balance, I personally believe Champion represents a pretty safe choice for most homeowners.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I also got a quote of $450/window for Heartland 700 Series. Any thoughts on this?

Sorry, I've personally never heard of Heartland windows

My familiarity with replacement windows is basically confined to the following brands, for which I was exposed during my recent search.......Alside, Schuco, Gilkey, Winstrom, Vinyl Kraft, Sugarcreek, Kolbe and Kolbe, and Air-Tite.

Hi, WVguy, Heartland windows are made in Iowa. They use a Spectus extrusion, which I think is now owned by Mikron. It's a heavy German style window like Shuco. They use intercept spacer and Cardinal low-e and have many option's like five exterior colors. It's a better than average window and is and priced right.
They are an off shoot of Lindsay windows in Mankato, Minn and have been in business about 10 yrs. I have been very happy with the business I have done with them.
