This question is for the consumers on this board for once, not the pros.
For those of you that have looked at many windows already, what window that you have seen impresses you the most?
I'm not asking about companies or salesmen experiences, just the window itself. Rate them in order if you would like.

I just ran into this an other posting and am glad i chose POLYBAU windows, but i am in the west coast from what we have here i liked:
1.POLYBAU.
2.SIMONTON
3.ANLIN
Keep in mind i was going for the vinyl windows and am very happy with my decision. From my research this 3 brands are excellent choices i was impressed with POLYBAU's internal and external design though.

We also liked Schuco the best so far from the research we have done, but if the product is so good, why are there so many complaints about a few of their exclusive dealers with horrible sales tactics and overinflated prices? You would think that with the best window, you would have great dealers lining up to do it the right way yet the posts keep coming. This being the case, I think we are going with Marvin wood windows from a dealer we can trust.

Excellent observation, Fran. Greedy dealer/salespersons is the only answer I can come up with. If it is the best it has to be the highest priced type of thinking....right?

I think that no name is somewhat correct. However, I'd just about bet that most companies want dealers that have a track record of VOLUME. After all, that's what it's all about from a manufacturing viewpoint. That paradigm is currently in the process of changing though, or this site wouldn't exist. I believe that as more low to no pressure dealers make their mark in the industry quality minded companies like Schuco will be changing to them.
In my case I found a dealer that is NO pressure, has a LOT of experience and handles other top name windows besides Schuco (which is what I bought - they're gorgeous!).

Good post Art. As a matter of fact, Schuco has some terrific dealers, and are seeking more of the same. As for the complaints, they are primarily from only a few dealers and I know Schuco is aware of them... because I forward many of the posts... Good and Bad. Yet another way these sites are helpful. As offered in past, I'll help if I can by connecting great people with great products and service.

Subject: | Which to choose Autrium vs. Soft-lite |
Posted At: | 2004-09-17 14:26:32 |
Experts please advice,
is Soft-lite windows with superspacer, Soft- lite sliding door and Precision Entrance door are worth 1000$ more than
Autrium 8500 series windows, Autriums sliding door and Home Depot entrance door?
Both options are with low-E and Argon.
We have 32 years old house with old aluminum siding and a lots of things to fix. So I am trying to figure out is first option worth the money or should I use that 1000 for other fixes? ...
Thanks a lot.

The sales tactics used today have been around since my grandfather jumped out of a plane defending the USA in Germany. They are old!! They are also still very affective. Most of the people here in the US have no clue on sales tactics or High Pressure sales. They fall right in and sign the dotted line. They trust the salesman knows what he's doing. The salesman promises the world and can't deliver. It's not the window manufacturers fault they did this. For example Schuco makes a great window and distributes the product through dealers aho are established. They are in the business to make money and sell their wares. The distributor is responsible to sell and follow the rules. I'm sure Schuco puts the screws to those who tarnish their name. I think any supplier would. We just have to know whats right and whats wrong. It's a tough one sometimes.

Hi Tom... just saw your post. I do not know that particular dealer, but if I did, I'll tell you good or bad. Price may or may not be out of line depending on the type and your install. If you email me, I can connect you with someone to provide more info. Good Luck.

I would have to agree with that statement. All the people rush to defend Schuco but I see more of these complaints against them then the other manufacturers.
