Sorry, somehow submitted it before I could type the question... anyway..my question is: My wife and I recently
received a quote on some soft-lite vinyl windows. We liked everything about the window, however, the only concern I have is the color(sandstone) we like is a bonded finish.
Unlike the traditional three colors white, tan and, brown which are extruded and offer a lifetime warranty, the new colors offered by soft-lite are bonded onto a white extruded window(basically painted on) and offer a ten year warranty. This process is new to the Soft-lite line and has been out less than a year. There must be durability questions because of the difference in warranties. Does anyone know if this is done by other window manufactures?
Can anyone offer any insight on what to expect from this kind of finish?
Thanks.

A Canadian window company named Vinylbilt also uses solar bonded finishes and they are warranted for 15 years. I have been pondering the same question as you regarding durability on this. I would really like to have white interior windows and tan exterior because of my exterior coloring on my house. There is also a company called Sunrise windows (former employees of Great Lake windows)that say their two tone coloring is not bonded, but rather melted through the vinyl. They told me that when the frame is made, the two colors are solid coloring all the way through the vinyl and that the coloring changes half way through to make the remainder of the frame in the other color. So basicly, the color is all the way thru half of the frame and then they continue the rest of the frame with the other color desired. I don't know how to really explain it better than that, but maybe one of the experts can help clarify this process. When Sunrise sales guy told me this, I wondered why don't more companies do this??? Maybe the sales guy was using sales tactics too, I don't know. Good luck!

Mike, SOme window makers have an extruded color which is very near to the Sandtone you want. I know my supplier has this color. They call it Saddlewood. Search around a bit. You may find someone with the same extrusion.

Thanks for the input from you all. Guy, What brand carries the Saddlewood that you're referring to?
Thanks.

We have a local manufacturer called Thermo-Tech here in MN. I'll hook you with the kink. They're a small company growing really fast. I know they supply to the Upper Midwest area. I've heard they are moving product int Nebraska. I'm sure there are others with the same color if they are to far away.
