10-yr. old cloudy Marvin windows

Posted At: 2004-09-28 21:32:35

Installed about two dozen Marvin double hung windows and a sliding glass door about 10 years ago.

About 3 years ago, noticed that many of the windows are getting so cloudy, you can't see through them very well. Also they really look awful in sunlight.

I assume the problem is caused by the interior panel between the two outer panels.

Is there anything that can be done? Is replacement the only choice? (Or heavy drapes maybe!)

Carol, first go back to your paperwork if you have it. If possible contact your contractor if he carried the paperwork. Anything that proves that your windows have been up for ten years. Then call Marvin Windows and schedule a service appointment by a Marvin Technician to verify the failed glass. It sounds like you should still be under warranty. If you are marvin wil replace the failed glass.
Marvin Windows usually responds fairly quick.

I hope the dates line up. At that time, Marvin only offered a 10 year warranty and were making their own I.G. units. I am pretty sure they only started using Cardinal glass about 3-4 years back so their warranty won't apply. Don't wait, contact them ASAP.

Contact should be first with the dealer that sold the windows if possible.
