I have nearly new second story vinyl windows with screens in a recently purchased older home. Wind damage has damaged a shutter. I can't figure out how to open or remove the screen. The tag on the window has the following information. RJ Reynolds Aluminum; Libby Owens Ford, Pinkerton (or Pinkington)Group, and RJT Industries. I searched the site but couldn't find a latch, finger puyll or anything on the screens. What should I be looking for?

The finger pulls may have detached themselves over time. Push at the top or sides to see if there are springs holding it in. If so, use a screwdriver or something thin on the opposite end to remove the screen. Hope this helps.

Hi Lynette, Greg is probably more than accurate with his response. Most manufacturers use plastic tabs to remove the screen. They pull out or sometimes never get put in. You can push on the edge of your screen to see which side the springs are located on. They may also be above. Just push the side you find with the springs evenly. Ounce you get the screen corner past the frame you can give it a little push. It should pop out easily. If you have a tough time getting it out. Use a putty knife behind the screen frame to assist it. Be careful not to damage your screen though. Good Luck!!!
