I'm looking to replace windows in my home that was built in the 1950s. I've done some research and have gotten many quotes (~8) -- the prices range all over. So far Champion has been my favorite, but is pricey. Other people have mentioned that they are not as great as I was lead to believe. So far all of my info has come from sales people. Does anyone have any suggestions for purchasing windows that are a similar (or better) quality for less money?
Also, does it matter if I hire a contracting company that will order and install the windows vs. a window manufacturer (ie: pella, champion, etc...)?
