Re: Do Sunrise NRG IGUs appear visually different from non-NRG?
Shout out to all. Thanks much! 1) Yes, yes, I was wrong on the VT ! I forgot that the glass VT is not the full window VT. 2) On the greenish looking glass, I asked my Exterior Designer/Colorist if the green glass would have an effect. The response: "Regarding your green tinted windows, with t...

Re: Which replacement windows for North Texas (N TX)?
I'm going with Sunrise Vanguard at $21K. I could not go w $14K Don Young aluminum bc I asked my City and they said no as way off code requirements. I'm doing a completer exterior reno and I'd get caught from tattling neighbors or w all the other permit inspections. The Sunrise Restoration were unrea...

Re: Would you trust rebranded Oknas?
dbraden, following this... I'm a long ways from you in TX w a thread on what window brand/material to select and obtained many bids. Just got a Sunrise Restoration bid for 27 large tall single hungs, many arched $74K but dealer cut it down to $52K. $1.93K/window average. Not an option. Per the Pros ...

Re: NT Twinsulator

Re: NT Twinsulator
gitesh, I'm following your thread. The Pro's here are awesome. I'm in DFW and have a thread going too. I mistakenly posted it under the Window Review section titled 'Which Replacement Windows for N TX?' Let me know if you find out the NT Twinsulator TBA (Thermal break Aluminum) Energy Star ratings. ...

Re: Which replacement windows for North Texas (N TX)?
Thanks so much! I didn't know that! I assumed no screen above the sash - meant it was a SH. I was wrong. Yes, it must have been a DH and the DH for sure has a different exterior frame. Awesome. exactly what I needed to learn. Thanks! I'm leaning toward the SUNRISE bc y'all like them, they meet code ...

Re: Which replacement windows for North Texas (N TX)?
Thanks so much all! Y'all are awesome! DY TBAs: I understand the DY TBAs are a good window choice. At UF .38, the DY TBAs are .03 decimals off of meeting my city's .35 UF permit code. SIGH. UF is not that important in lots of TX. Some cities do send inspectors out to confirm work done matches permit...

Re: Which replacement windows for North Texas (N TX)?
edintex, I've been glued to your thread too! Thanks for it! I'm hoping to hear back from the PROs if the Sunrise reinforced sash vinyl will hold up in my large west windows. The Don Young Aluminum will, but if its a permit issue, won't be allowed. Sunrise Dealer says all single hungs are sash reinfo...

Re: Which replacement windows for North Texas (N TX)?
Thanks so very much WoW and Randy! WoW: "Are you going back with all single hungs? If so, that abates some of my concerns about the stability of the Sunrise interlock on the larger units." Great question WoW as so good to make think much more! I did learn that the Sunrise Single Hungs come...

Re: North Texas (N TX) - Which replacement windows?
Awesome site providing terrific service and information! Thanks so much all!! I still really like the Don Young aluminum for its great slim profile and looks, frame strength and lasting longevity for N TX hot and at times fierce weather. Need opinions for 28 windows noted in first post $12K Don Youn...

Re: Which replacement windows for North Texas (N TX)?
Thanks much WoW for your quick response! Appreciate the Pros and the Helping posters here for all you do, for so many of us! Thanks. To be clear, I've been very interested in the Don Young aluminum windows. And that's where I was headed until I saw they had a spiral balance system. Spiral balance is...
