:) dan, you'll see unsubstantiated opinions like that all the time on this site. it's unusual for handyman to do. he's usually pretty fair and unbiased. i have heard of vywintech and have seen their windows. they're located in paducah, ky. i believe. they have several lines. janus and cressida are t...

:( witmeyer, i understand your concern. if you can remove the inside stop of your window trim you will be able to see the frame and drill a small hole. the inside stop is the most narrow piece of trim that runs horizontally and vertically around the window and is what the interior of the frame of th...

 ok, maybe i was a little too brief with item 1. welded sashes and frames are a must. so is a good spacer such as super spacer or intercept. a constant force balance or block and tackle are preferable to the spiral kind and getting a good installer can't be stressed enough. i don't sell anything

 sorry, i misunderstood. since most of this thread involved hi-priced windows, i thought your characterization of a cheap, mediocre underperforming window would be any window not in this category. i totally agree that there are windows out there that perform quite satisfactorily and don't cost ...

:( so then, to truly be an old fashioned proud homeowner, one should either; A. replace their windows with ones they may or may not be able to afford just so long as they are not cheap, mediocre or under-performing(even if cheap, mediocre, under-performing windows would be better than what they have...
