Re: recommendations for fixing leaky replacement window?

Here's a couple of pictures. I certainly don't expect you guys to be able to point me right to the problem, just wondering if you have any recommendations for what process to follow to try to get it fixed. Do I have the window installer just keep siliconing until the visible leaks are gone? Should s...

recommendations for fixing leaky replacement window?

Hello, My replacement picture window was just installed. It was a 2 part installation; the first window installed had the wrong glass so the second phase of install was a glass replacement only. So now I've got 2 new stacked picture windows; Marvin (Essential or Infinity, I forget which one). We rec...

Re: Wrong window installed - what should I do?

Thanks for all the ideas and help. I contacted the window seller, they've agreed to have the glass replaced with replacement glass from Marvin. They've said the glass is indeed replaceable (no need to replace the frame also), hopefully that's accurate and there aren't any long-term problems due to b...

Re: Wrong window installed - what should I do?

Thanks for the tip on the etching. Yep, the one window is wrong, one says LoE 366, the other says LoE 272. The wrong one is quite a large window: 106" x 65". These are Marvin Essential windows. Not sure if true or not, but when I bought them the sales guy told me that glass doesn't get rep...

Re: Wrong window installed - what should I do?

Yes, a slight difference. They're mulled vertically, so you dont get the identical view through both at the same time. I don't think I'd notice the difference unless I studied them closely, or I was told they were different. I think my main point of concern is not the view, but the energy efficiency...

Re: Wrong window installed - what should I do?

They are both picture windows; no moving parts. The windows are directly touching (2 mulled together to fill one open space), the 2 panels of glass are about 3 inches apart (the width of 2 window frames)

Wrong window installed - what should I do?

Hello, I just had some replacement Marvin windows installed today in the Austin, TX area. They look nice and the install went well. This evening, I looked at the spec stickers for the windows (I got 2). One has the correct specs: Low E3 Argon with a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.24. The ot...

How to select an installer?

Once I've selected the specifics of the windows I'd like, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to select the distributor/installer of those windows? I get the general flow of: read reviews, ask for references... But aside from that stuff, are there specific aspects of a quote I should compare?...

Re: Recommendations for modern style picture windows in Austin, TX?

I found a link to the Marvin Contemporary line of products: https://www.marvin.com/contemporary But looking at it, it appears to me to be the same window lines, the "Signature" and the "Essential" as are on their "standard" website. Is there really a Contemporary line o...

Re: Recommendations for modern style picture windows in Austin, TX?

So I had to check through the quote software. Marvin will do the size in a direct glazed rectangle, you will need tempered glass. The the Essential line you have several chooses for exterior color, but only black or white for the interior. We need tempered glass anyway, as its less than 18" fr...

Recommendations for modern style picture windows in Austin, TX?

I'm investigating replacing some existing picture windows on a east-facing wall. The opening is about 106" wide, and 95" high. I'm expecting I'll get 3 mulled picture windows that run vertically (so 3 95" tall, 35" wide). I've gotten a couple of quotes so far (all prices include ...
