Re: Casement Quotes/Advice - *Follow-Up After Install*

Mike, thanks for the tip on using the goof off for the black marks. Todd, glad you agree on the screens, I thought the same. As far as the cladding, the pic I posted got oriented off 90 degrees when I posted it. If you click to enlarge I think it will right itself. It is an area where a half round w...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice - *Follow-Up After Install*

Hello All...It's been a while, but our windows finally arrived and were installed about one month ago. Thanks for all the advice along the way. The install was a little stressful due to a couple openings that I could tell had rot that went in pretty deep. All in all I am satisfied with the windows a...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

The SL company came down to within 5k of the Okna quote, so we are signing tomorrow! Okna quoted me 24,xxx if I committed within two weeks or the price jumped 2,200, making it 26,xxx. The SL company came down to 29,866 from 32,463 after I asked them if they could work on the price based on the Okna ...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Guys, I seriously can't thank you enough for all the insight. The only big difference I see between the OKNA and SL quotes from a pure cost perspective is that the SL dealer quoted me a triple pane option, which is apparently their standard. Any thoughts on typical cost savings to "downgrade&qu...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Amos came in at 32,463 with the SL Elements for a FF tear out. They emailed me a quote at 10pm, roughly 4.5hrs after the consult. They have a 5 year labor warranty. They did a great job answering all my install questions and are willing to approach the install however I like. After talking nitty gri...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Great info, thank you. My home is all brick.."brick veneer". Is the use of a nail fin on the replacement window still used in that application? I was assuming there would not be a nail fin used because there wouldn't be enough framework accessible to nail a fin to inside the brick opening....

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

HS...thanks for going over the reviews for me on Amos. I think I needed the kick in the shorts. I have talked to two or three different people there so far and set up an in home consult for tomorrow. I am pleasantly optimistic so far based on these conversations! I hope all goes well from here. As f...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Thanks HS. I did find "Amos" as well based on your Softlite referral. I know there's always negative reviews, but I read several about poor CS and failures to respond/lack of communication. That has me gun shy there. I am pursuing a quote for the Polaris UltraWeld and ThermalWeld Plus than...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Thanks WOW & HS! I found a construction company in my area that deals in Polaris based on your info. The company has a small amount of reviews but they are all very good. It looks like they offer the UltraWeld, ThermalWeld Plus, and the DynaWeld. Can you school me on the differences in this grou...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

I'm pretty exhausted with the research and vetting process for the casements honestly, and I know that's a bad excuse. I know I exhausted my wife long ago, lol. I thought I was gonna be good with the Marvin Essential from the # 5) contractor below, but my small half rounds took that off the table. W...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Hi folks, just wanted to bump this one since it has been over a week. I know y'all are busy and I appreciate your help. Thought maybe this last question slipped through the web cracks. I confirmed that the Pella Impervia quote was for FF tear out. So, is the Pella Impervia casement worth 7k more tha...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Here I am back again. I've mostly decided on the contractor I want to use for the install. I've been trying to pin down details on the install and those "extra" prices for the windows they will install for me. The contractor doesn't want to mix and match Alside casements and Marvin fibergl...

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

The Essential quote was not a full year out quote. I believe the full tear out was gonna be 2k to 3k more. I'm going to try to attach a pic of the arch unit so you can determine if you consider it quarter round. I will suggest the wood clad mix specifically and see what the installer thinks. I am le...
