Re: Painted vinyl exterior frame (NT or others) - fading?

Thanks Randy. Good to know since we are in similar regions. What is your recommendation to clients who are making a similar decision? Is white the safest bet or does the color hold up well enough to go the exterior color route?

Re: Painted vinyl exterior frame (NT or others) - fading?

I imagine the process is similar across the board. I used the worked painted, but I think it's more like a powder coat and should adhere better to the vinyl. Any other opinions/suggestions here? The window company we found isn't charging an arm/leg for having the split frame, which is refreshing. Th...

Painted vinyl exterior frame (NT or others) - fading?

Starting a new thread because it’s a new topic. We’ve found the installer we want to use for our windows (NT presidential) and have decided to go the split frame/multi colored route but I’ve been reading about the potential for painted vinyl to fade. We are doing a tan/almond exterior with white int...

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

They are. We are likely going to bite the bullet and go split frame

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

Our interior has white trim, and we think that almond might stand out and date the interior.

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

Thanks! Likely not going full screens. Haven’t really thought about it and unsure if NT offers it.

8k is a pretty big premium for sure. One company charges a flat $400 for split frames

Hmmm

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

We are still kicking around the idea of doing the split finish window. I've attached a pic of the front of the house. It's an earthy tone brick called 'old chicago' (with similarly colored siding on the second story). Ignore the black framed window, the almond window on the ground and the dead flowe...

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

I do have a question about colors. The exterior of our home is a tan/sandstone brick. We would like to exterior to match, or get close to, the brick color while keeping the inside white. How does NT achieve this? Do they custom make the window or does the retailer buy a tan or white window and paint...

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

Agreed. These NT windows seem like a really solid product. Solidified my decision to go with them.

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

I emailed them and got the Intertek/Architectural Testing report. Air leakage/infiltration per ASTM E 283 at 75 Pa is .03 for the single hung presidential window.

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

The cold weather days and the effects it has on our house is what’s driving this window bus. During the last cold spell, ice cycles had formed on the inside of most windows. Not a little bit either. Occurred around the entire jamb and the temp around each window is about 15-20 colder than the immedi...

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

Thanks Randy! Is there anything else I should look for in my area? I was told the DY TBA windows are quite a bit more than most vinyl options. Unsure if this is true or not
