I got a quote from Bil-Ray. All I can say is that their office sure looks nice and the salesman sure was driving a nice company car. I wonder how much that costs them?.....
And he sure could keep talking forever....
My impression, at least.

dp-50
According to the catalog, DP-50 is an option on some sizes of certainteed. Supposedly they add a metal bar(s) in order to meet that. Supposedly you can order DP-50 as an option on some Silverline and Survivor windows too, as well as others I am sure. Not sure if they actually have been independently...

Long Island
I am in Long Island, NY. Certainteed said that the fabricator for this area was Viking/Virep, in Connecticut, which also makes some other brands of windows.

Certainteed, Silverline, Simonton, or Survivor
I am putting in new construction double hing windows to replace old certainteed replacement windows that were poorly installed along with new siding. Anyone have an opinon on which one would be the best: Silverline 3000 (their top) Certainteed NewCastle (new const. version of BrynMawr) Simonton Prof...

Window Reference
Is there any reference that lists all the features of different windows in a side-by-side comparison? I see this for cars, but not for windows. I think it would be useful to have one reference that has something like the answers to question list I think W4U had posted previously: Things like: # weat...

Swiggle
The design seems okay to me, Except that it is bulky and they use Swiggle Seal, at least here.
Pellaman,
How would I be able to choose where the windows come from?

Thanks.
W4U,
Thanks for the link. It'll be interesting to see if the issues discussed with sashlite are resolved.

NewCastle
I think the numbers I was referring to are for the NewCastle XT, which is the new construction version of the Bryn Mawr II. Seems like the numbers should be identical, though, since they describe the two versions as being cosmetically the same. According to Certainteed's NewCastle catalog, they have...

Air Infiltration
I haven't seen this discussed: Does anyone know why Certainteed windows have the lowest published air infiltration rates (that I have seen) of <.01 cfm for the double hung? Most other windows, even expensive ones, have rates of around .1 cfm. I asked certainteed and they didn't have an answer. I am ...

Swiggle Spacer
Have Swiggle spacers improved lately? I have a house that has certainteed windows in it from 1988. Some sashes have a metal box spacer and some sashes have been replaced with swiggle spacer. The swiggle spacers and the sashes they are in seem to be more "droopy" and deteriorated than other...
Sashlite
Anyone know what companies, if any, actually offer sashlite and whether it is likely to last longer than existing spacers?
It sounds like the window sashes would be much stronger since the glass would help siffen the window?
