But you're talking railroad tracks and trains.....while windows might help some, there are companies out there that will physically move a whole house.
You make me laugh daveincincy ... I've commented on this very thing to my friends, jokingly of course!!

I don't know anything about the first two windows you mentioned; but I would not go for the Sears Weatherbeater Max ... I know you said money is not an issue right now; but they are WAY overpriced for the product they offer. The Sears window is manufactured by Simonton and you could probably find a ...

Curious about the actual installation
Installing a replacement window from the inside of the house versus the outside... I've received several estimates on windows and all but one company stated the windows would be replaced from the outsides of my house ... of course since only one stated they would do it from the inside they stand out...

whathehuh says "So far nothing has all the features that the weatherbeater has...vinyl, wood, vinyl clad. Thats my 4 cents." whathehuh says "I am going off the impressions series that was at my local distributor of simonton and other windows. I have yet to see all the series they do o...

another quote
I'm beginning to see the light at the end of this "window road" I travel ... I hope? I had a local, family owned company (in business for 30 years) give me a quote last night and would like your opinion on the product offered versus the cost. 8 DH and 4 sliders all Simonton Prizm Platinum ...

I may be putting myself out there with this comment since I’m nowhere near an expert on this topic but this is just my take on things … I understand that most of the comments made are just the opinions of the person submitting the posting and we all know the saying … “opinions are like … and everybody has one.†But whathehuh do you really think I care how much your house is worth? What does that have to do with vinyl windows and the topic of this forum? You work for Sears and are very proud of the product they sell and the service they provide. I think that is great since too many people nowadays don’t; however I think you may be missing the bottom line here … I don’t think anyone is disputing the fact that Simonton is a good window … what is being said is that Sears is overcharging for them!!
I thought this site was to enable consumers, like myself, to gather information regarding replacement windows from experienced and knowledgeable individuals in order to purchase a product that best suits our needs and our budget without being totally ripped off.

sears
ok ... so I told you I didn't sign with Sears when they gave me a quote of $12K to replace my 12 windows ... they called me and wanted to know why I didn't sign. I told them the two reasons: 1.) Too expensive for my budget 2.) I want to shop around and see what products were available to me before m...

Re: sound
What does this all mean??? [quote="Oberon"]1/8" glass, 1/4" airspace. 1/8" glass has a loss of 26dB at 100hz. But at 400hz, the loss is only 19dB. But at 2500hz, the loss is 46dB. (Loss is a good thing - it describes how much quieter it will be) 1/4" x 1/2" air spa...

Thanks for your input guys! Sears sells the Weatherbeater Max, which I've sinced learned is a Simonton window ... and from what I've read seems to be a good window ... As for Sears ... my Dad retired from there years ago and I know they sell good products and stand behind them; however their sales t...
