Re: Looking for company and product suggestions in MA
this just reinforces my fear that no matter who I contact I'm going to get hosed by the window salesman's pitch. Dont let "replacementwindows" scare you, he's is just blowing smoke. Do your due diligence, check out your companies and their products thoroughly and don't let low price lead ...

Re: Denver Area Vinyl Window Questions
1. If the mylar third pane that you are refering to is like Heat Mirrior then I would try to find a good triple pane product instead. 2. Alside Excalibur window is an ok window, There are certainly better coices out there. 3. 800 for a large slider widow sounds like a fair price as long as its turn ...

Re: Wooden replacement windows in CA
I would wait and cross the wood window bridge when you come to it. You need to find out from your building department what the exact requirements are for your home. If you can use a vinyl product then that is the way I would go if you are looking for a more permanent solution.

Re: Vinyl vs. Fiberglass for replacements
I believe you would be ok with either option. From a quality stand point both windows would do the job. Fiberglass and Vinyl are both great, proven materials for window extrusions. The biggest factor in quality is always the installation. So its a choice of who you feel most comfortable with, which ...

Re: Opinion on this quote
Price seems fair except for picture window is a little high, FYI your not getting installation for free. It is a marketing concept use to create urgency, a call to action. reguardless the price seams fair, but I hope you are shopping for alot more than a good price.

Re: Sunrise Windows
Sunrise is a good vinyl window company. As far as energy efficency they are like most other manufatures, they offer multipal glass options and your choice would affect the overall u-factor. I like their Cardnal glass option, I believe they call it Omega 12.

Re: Replacement windows as new installs
The window you are describing sounds alot like the replacement windows used on the west coast. These windows are standard vinyl replacement windows with a large flange on the outside edge of the windows called a stucco fin. Some companies prefer not to damage existing stucco by removing the aluminum...

Re: Solar Heat Gain question
Upstate NY The recomendation for a higher solar heat gain is being recomended because you live up north. Its just the opposite from where Im at, but typically northern areas are fighting cold temperatures more and have fairly mild summers. With this in mind you might want to allow as much radiant h...

Re: DC Metro Area - Soft-Lite?
While the window designs are based on similar platforms, I believe the Elements windows has a few distinguishing diferences. The Sill and Sill dam area are designed diferently and I believe the locking systems are different as well.(Basically the same window as the Elements).

Re: simonton insallation instructions
I'd rather not as it will leave exposed wood on the exterior which I guess will need to be covered in alum. or? are there any trim products, simonton or otherwise made to ease this. Leaving your storm windows in place will cause a green house effect that will warp your new vinyl frames as well as c...

Re: Anyone heard of Dreamspace Windows by Thermal Industries?
Dreamspace is a slogan that they associate with their pre-fab sunrooms, but they do have window styles that use their favorite word "dream" in them. Dream Wood and DreamVue would be two that come to mind. I agree with previous post, windows are mid grade and a little expensive for what you...
