Replacing IGU

How is the IGU removed and replaced? Would a glass company be experienced in handling this type of replacement? Would like to change the look of a transom from rectangle grids to a starburst in a vinyl window frame.

Window seal failure and fogging questions

If a seal fails over time and the desiccant reaches a saturation point does window fogging always occur? Does fogging only during certain weather seasons like during the cold winter? Does a window stay permanently fogged, or does it even depend on the time of day?

It should also be added that the single hung window you have is the Simonton ProFinish Builder which is the lowest in the new construction line. I would never put them in my house. Double strength glass is always a good investment since it reduces the odds of stress cracks and accidental breakage. If it is an option, you might upgrade to the aluminum reinforced meeting rails as well to increase strength of the window. I'm not sure that is an option, but I'll ask about it. I g...

Simonton ProFinish windows question

I am having a house built and the contractor has proposed using Simonton ProFinish Contractor series windows. The windows will be Low-E and tinted. Should I upgrade to double-strength glass?
