Don't most horizontal sliding windows (side to side) have a pocket they slide in?
If a pocket is so bad for a double-hung, why do most manufacturers have is for they're side to side sliders?

Re: Window replacement cleveland Ohio
The Stanek pocket sill is a non issue. You cannot achieve an industry leading structural rating of a 70 on a double hung if the window had a poor water penetration rating or drainage issues. Softlite has a design pressure of 70 but the overall rating given was an LC=60 . Just look at the gold label ...

Re: single hung windows in brick brown/red exterior color
Windows on washington All vinyl windows weep water through they're frames. With sloped sill designs its through the jamb of the upper sash where it meets the sill. Pocket sills its through the lower sash area as well as the upper sash area. The water has a few more inches to travel but the window ac...

If you live around within a few hrs of Clearwater, then Stanek Windows is an option. They have the highest DP rating of 70 on they're double hung window in your market.
They can also do any color you wish.

Re: Heat mirror vs. Champion 365 glass
I'm going to assume your talking about a double-hung window. You are correct with the Stanek construction. Stanek has more than twice the structural rating for the double-hung. Champion Dp=30 Stanek Dp=70 As for the glass, Champion simply puts their label (Comfort 365) on a piece of Cardinal glass a...

Re: OKNA & AAMA Rating
There is a company in southeastern WI. that constantly tells people that if the window is not directly tested through the AAMA then the test results don't matter. This totally misleads people and is confusing. Thank you guys for making it clear that all testing agencies using AAMA standards (NAMI, W...

Re: Replacement windows Gorell Timeless or Stanek
Propietary means its exclusive to one party. Stanek created a new product with they're vinyl extruder. Just like our patio door and casement has many propietary features as well. The difference is a product (fibermax) which is virtually as strong as the 16-guage steel reinforcements which were used ...

Re: Replacement windows Gorell Timeless or Stanek
P.S.
Stanek manufacturers they're own extrusions which are all proprietary.
Just like everyone else in the window business, they get the glass from another source as well as the hardware then put the window together.

Re: Replacement windows Gorell Timeless or Stanek
Fibermax is a composite. The difference between a fiberglass reinforcement and the fibermax is huge. Fiberglass does not hold screws. So when it comes to mounting locks, keepers, crank handles, etc... the fibermax can. This means a far more secure window and a product where hardware won't work itsel...

Re: Replacement windows Gorell Timeless or Stanek
The Stanek Window has a higher DP Rating of a 70. The Gorell is a 50 The Gorell window does not cover labor or installation in they're warranty. The Stanek window covers labor and installation for as long as you live in your home. The Stanek window is also reinforced better, has cleaner corner welds...

Re: need to know if installed windows are double pane or triple
Here's an idea!
How about looking at your contract and remembering what you purchased. Are you saying you just bought windows from Home Depot and didn't get ANYTHING in writing? It should clearly say what style, color, and type of glass was purchased on any companies contract.
Come on.

ASTM? for windows
Does anyone know what this really means when a window company states these statistics?:
ASTM Grade 75 structural performance
What does this mean? Go to ASTM website.
http://www.astm.org/Standard/index.shtml
If someone can put in layman terms what this means it would help.

Soft Lite Structural Grade Question
Here's a question for the window pro's. I believe I've been informed that Soft-lite says they have a structural rating of a 70 for they're double-hung. When you go to the AAMA website, the highest score shown for a double-hung window is a 60*. Source ---- http://www.aamanet.org/cpd_results3.asp?mMan...

Heat Mirror doesn't cause a "failure" any more than a third piece of glass would. It's the fabricator not following specific guidelines otherwise problems will occur. Here is a link for the guidelines.
