Re: Question for Delaware Mike

Hi Grayson, I'm sorry, I don't really do Maryland these days. How far are you from the Delaware Memorial Bridge?

Re: New construction windows

The sizing in regard to the height should be determined from the rough sill to the header from interior. You want to have enough room to level, square, and plumb, plus get spray foam around sides and head gap to the R/O. I like about 1/2" gap for that. Sizing may depend on what is going on with the ...

Re: Replacing current windows with smaller windows

I would not advise that unless you want to make the house devalued and a complete abomination.

Re: Negotiation required for replacement windows?

Did this dealer send out a sales rep, or was it an owner/operator? Did they show you higher price than that as their "normal" pricing and then come up with all kinds of "day of demo" discounts to come to that price?

Re: Atlanta Replacement Windows - Okna vs Sunrise and Brickmould Questions

Flanged full frame replacements will typically have a deeper jamb depth for the hanging of mini blinds off/in the head jamb than with filling a wood window pocket with an insert/replacement window. I like blinds hanging there verses on the face of the casings when it make sense.

Re: Would you trust rebranded Oknas?

dbraden, sorry that you're not able to get the pricing point from the OKNA dealer in your area. Where I'm at, we OKNA dealers seem to be all around the same general price point give or take. I have four other dealers all within 30-45 minutes of my business. I don't know all of the dealers, but there...

Re: Would you trust rebranded Oknas?

It's pretty common. I wouldn't worry. That's pretty much the going rate for the Restorations around my parts, but I think that you're on to something with the OKNA product.

Re: Comparing Quotes.. Can't decide!

The Vanguard series also gives the homeowner the lifetime accidental glass breakage warranty which includes screens too over regular Sunrise. Modern "Duo-Tech" style locks with tilts built-in are pretty sleek in deed and generally well received in the market. I wouldn't do so far to refer to the Van...

Re: Integrated J Channel - New vs Replacement

We have a lot of situations in which the homeowners have shutters really close together and cutting back siding and adding trim boards will allow the shutters to be re-positioned together closer, thus an express/downsized window or same sized window must be opted without adding capped trim boards or...

Re: Integrated J Channel - New vs Replacement

Removing the siding and putting the exact same sized flanged window is the only way that I personally will do your type of project and we do it all of the time, at least once a month. My crew and myself have a lot of vinyl siding experience and we don't rush, thus we don't very much vinyl siding cra...

Reflective lol. With grids the glass can look like cross between the video game Tron and light saber duel from Star Wars from interior view.

Re: 8 Ft Slider with Blinds

The redesigned Pella door is very nice and carries a lifetime warranty against that cladding going bad and allowing water in to that would rot out the rails, however it's super expensive. You could contact OKNA directly to see if they have any dealers that service your area. Unfortunately, Dave from...

Re: Which is better, single doors or French doors?

I agree with the other pros regarding double-doors. Hard to maintain that tight seal over years of operation and ownership. I much prefer a single door with sidelites. Obviously if one has large items going in and out of the openings the French doors make sense. My friend as a hobby buys and sells u...
