Re: NJ Windows - and can’t break the bank

Not a fan of Pella or MI vinyl. I much prefer the Andersen A series over the 400. My sister has a 20-year old typical production new construction home down in Pennsville with the Weathershield windows too. I know that they're planning on having me put OKNA's in when the nest is empty in a few years.

Re: SE Pennsylvania farmhouse replacement windows and installer

Many manufacturers have different product lines and don't always allow dealers to have full access to every model as they have dealers in the same territories that cross paths. For an example, we do the Vanguard series which is now that model, and I don't have the Restoration line which is reserved ...

Re: Why is my window brown between panes?

Most of the NEBP locally to the Tri-State area were sold and installed through Power. However, they were in certain local lumberyards and many GC's would install them in Cumberland County. NEBP is sold through Plowmans in Millville also. Being in Elmer, there is a main distributor for those windows ...

Re: Why is my window brown between panes?

The windows should have two stickers. I cheap white Avery printer like in-house label up in the head cavity when one lowers the top sash down, however I've seen them on the sides of the sashes too. That has all of the information regarding the order and specs for NEBP to start to make up a new OEM s...

Re: Why is my window brown between panes?

That's the common failure of the Sashlite glazing tech/system from North East Building Products out of Philadelphia right off of 95S just north of the city. What you have is failure of the white vinyl spacer that implemented into the casement sash, this allows moisture to contact the low-e coating a...

Re: Anlin vs Provia

I forget who actually supplies ProVia with their glass, but I don't think it's Cardinal at all. They do utilize Tremco's Super Spacer glazing tech which is fantastic. No worries regarding them being around though, they have done nothing but grow over the last 10-year and will likely be about the lar...

Re: Deformed interior gasket - Vytex

That's spacer migration from bad glazing of the IGU production. I see that a lot on lower end windows that get slaughtered with direct sunlight especially if there is no low-e coatings on the glass. It's replaceable with new IGU units to the sashes.

Re: Recent window install

You will need a "tolerance" space around the wood opening to the size of the window to be able to square it and have all of the margin/reveals be uniform between the sashes to the frames. If it were super tightly measured with no spacing, the installers would have to lubricate and beat it ...

Re: Looking for specs on casing sizes

Soft-Lite Classic has one of the more max glass narrow less vinyl frames/sashes out there. SL's stronger and newer platforms (Elements/Imperial LS) have more robust vinyl.

Re: Best Quality for Fair Price

Not a fan of that tweaked Pella 250. So far Power has utilized Accu-Weld, Republic, North East, and now Pella for their vinyl all by low paid subs. They talk a big game for a big price on lower grade windows.

Re: Provia Endure vs Okna (400/600) Long Island, NY

Those prices must be product only without installation. ProVia does have pricing platforms for their dealers. The higher one's purchase volume, the better the pricing is for them. It seems to me as a certified ProVia dealer, the call backs due to quality control and what it takes to make the product...

Re: Metal half round frame in stucco

You don't have to. However, it has snap in glazing beads that come loose without a lot of trouble it may make sense and be safer. Some of that extruded aluminum on those metal windows are kind of thick in regards to the nailing flange unlike the lighter gauge stuff on Pella type window. You may need...

Heat gun or torch to loosen glass from glazing putty of death that holds glass to aluminum frame first. Gloves and safety glasses. Sharpen 3" tapered flexible putty knife. I sharpen the edges and side with a mill file. You can also utilize a multi oscillating tool with a scraper blade or old bl...

The OKNA 600 is the best of the bunch. Sounds like there is elaborate historic like exterior window casings/millwork if multiple outfits aren't including the capping?

Re: Mercury Excelum Windows - any thoughts?

Patriot windows out of Hammonton NJ were the worst! Total builder's grade garbage, a 10-year product at best with tons of seal failure to add more grief to the poor design, cheap parts, and horrible construction/quality control. I had them in our 2003 Ryan home and ironically one of my customers was...
