Re: Norandex vs Slocomb vs. Keep shopping

He is correct.

We cap up to them, but never to the front faces.

I would get them all painted before you start the windows.

Re: Replacement Window Research

Sliding half screen has never been a "wear item" for us.

Good that he was honest and that speaks highly of the contractor that he is giving it to you straight. Showroom is fine, but most folks prefer folks to come by their homes either way.

Re: Exasperated with window repair

+1 to HomeSealed feedback.

As a general observation, I am not sure much is going to be "adjustable" given the haphazard manner this was originally installed.

Re: Replacement Window Research

They can sit on the sill all day long. Just use the half screen. More daylight, easier to use, easier to remove. Just set the limit latches so they are less prone to want to crawl out on the sill.

Re: Provia vs. Seaway

The contractor consensus would be that Provia is the better company. Not sure what the specifications or other details are on the products in this comparison so, we need a bit more details.

The reality is that it is a stronger window by comparison and you can feel that in the handling of the...

Re: input needed in Georgia

Have you asked friends or neighbors?

That window is generally not recommended as one of the windows that most would refer to as "Good, Mid-Grade" in terms of product quality.

Have you searched around for any of the other commonly recommended windows? Soft-Lite, Sunrise, etc?

Re: Vytex Potomac/ Okna Ecopro 600/Simonton 5500

Window #3 does not belong in the competitive company of #1 and #2. Both #1 and #2 are very good and you won't go wrong with either. If all other things are equal, I am a slightly bigger fan of #2 window, but that is mostly because I am familiar with the brand and performance. If the installer on #1 ...

Thanks Oberon. Someone was, apparently, working in glass back in the late 80's.
