Re: Whole house windows replacement in DFW

You are in the wrong part of Texas. If you were closer to Houston...you'd get the king of windows in Texas.

$200 is not expensive when you are talking about glass. A sealed IGU requires some relatively specialized equipment. They aren't making these in a garage.

Re: which side is the bead on?

Sliding sash is internally glazed, most likely. Center section can be removed, most likely. Geometric is internally glazed, most likely. Not "un-doable" but you are certainly upping the complexity at this point. I would be very careful and get some glazing sleeves or good gloves if you are...

Re: Hopper Replacement Window

If its capped and the water management is correct, not needed. What are you doing for trim on the outside? Capping, PVC? But if you are just trimming it out with wood, I'd have some slope on the wood subsill.

Re: which side is the bead on?

IGU = Insulated Glass unit

Hard to tell, but appears to be a spacer crumbing IGU. Yes.

If the glazing bead is facing the inside, I would call that internally glazed.

Re: which side is the bead on?

Is it a 3-Lite slider or a picture window with sliders on either side?

Post up a picture.

Re: Power - Symphony Pella windows

You'll get it figured out. No reason to go full tear out or new construction in my opinion unless there is something that is foundationally wrong with the old windows.

Re: New Build - Non-clad options?

I'd look at some of the FG brands out of Canada that have a heavy leaning towards efficiency numbers and performance.

Fibertec is well regarded.
