As stated previously, some flaking and cracking at that joint is VERY normal with a window removal. Best application there, but a bit more than standard, would be some shoe molding.

White - White casement, I would go with one of the upper end vinyl units. Sunrise makes a great casement as does Okna and Soft-Lite.

To me, the more important question is what else is being done here. The tape that should be used is the same tape that is part of whatever system, if a system is being used (i.e. WRB, Flexible tape, Straight tape, sill pan, etc.), is being deployed. Outside of that, they all work and you should ONLY...

Appears to be internally glazed. I would pop out a sash and look at the weepers on the sash frame.

I doubt that the difference is purely a result of the materials differential. While Okna doesn't make a bad window, the 500 is a superior operator than the 400.

If they cut back the facing trim, cleanly, a painted piece of PVC shoe or molding might be the easier fix and you'd have double coverage at that point.

DM is correct. Pricing raises and eyebrow to be certain. Just can't be done in our market with materials and labor prices where they are. That said.. The VK is certainly dated and finding information on their site is a bit like trying to locate a "buried treasure", but I don't see a 2X val...
